It’s official. I’m now five years cancer free. Big milestone for me. Let’s all celebrate life this weekend.

Congrats fella.
My step-brother is waiting to hear back to see if he’s got the all clear (one hospital hasn’t updated the records yet for the other hospital to view). But even if he finally does get the all clear, with his age and the aggressiveness of the cancer he’s been told he’ll have to go back every six months to keep an eye out for anything.
It’s taken a year to get to this stage so hopefully it’ll be over soon for him.
Have a great evening fella. You’ve been through a lot over the last few years, make sure you take time for yourself to just chill.

Damn man!! You go!!!
Idk if too tmi, but how does it feel being cancer free? I ask because my dad is going through both Stage IV in his esophagus and emphysema at the same time and it’s really depreciated his physical health. I wonder how much he could recover?

Sincere congratulations, I can’t even begin to imagine the emotional roller coaster you must’ve endured the past five years.
Have yourself an excellent weekend, you most certainly deserve it :)

Awesome.
My grandfather just surpassed 10 years last month. In those ten years, there are now 15 great-grandchildren when there were 0 prior to his diagnosis.
Life is awesome.

Six month revisits are the norm for a few years. For me it was every six months for three years followed by every 12 months for two years.
Fun fact: one CT chest scan is the equivalent of standing on the grounds at Chernobyl for an hour. Yes, I feel like I should glow.
Thanks and wish your step-brother the best of luck. Let him know he has another person praying for him.

Dang, sorry to hear that. There are long-term repercussions from chemotherapy and radiation. I know it affected my memory and speech. I think I still write ok, but I tend to stumble when speaking where I did not before.
It will change him, both physically and mentally. It’s hard to deal with that. On the other hand, when things get rough, I just look back and tell myself it’s not nearly as scary as dealing with cancer.
More prayers for him.

I totally misread that as “I’ve been career free” and was confused by all the congratulations. Glad to hear you’re healthy instead of a bum!

Life IS awesome! I was lucky to know my great-grandparents and think of them fondly. It’s funny, they were the only people I knew who were old from the first memory to the last.

Hmmm. Career free is a career choice, no? It might be ok if you have the right parents.

He’s a had a really bad time of it with almost everything that could go wrong, going wrong.
He just wants to get on with his life.
